How it works
From a private workspace to a shared record
The complete lifecycle of a Relac relationship — what each company does, and what crosses the boundary between them.
The complete lifecycle
- Organization workspace
- Company (a counterparty you do business with)
- Relationship
- Connection invitation
- Counterparty accepts the connection
- Bilateral Agreement
- Engagements
- Events, documents, and corrections
- Controlled sharing
- Shared Timeline
Two companies, two workspaces
Your company
- Create a workspace and record the company you do business with
- Start a Relationship and its first Engagement
- Send a connection invitation to the counterparty
- Propose terms, or respond to a proposal, on a Bilateral Agreement
- Choose exactly which events and documents to share
The counterparty
- Receives the connection invitation
- Accepts the connection from its own workspace, linking its own Relationship
- Reviews and responds to proposed terms — accept, reject, or counter
- Sees the same accepted agreement your company sees
- Sees only what your company has explicitly shared, on the Shared Timeline
What stays private
Everything below belongs to one workspace alone, and is never visible to a counterparty:
- Your own Companies, Relationships, and Engagements before anything is shared
- Events, documents, and internal notes you have not explicitly shared
- Your team members, their roles, and your internal permissions
- Meeting records — always private, never shareable
What becomes shared
Once two companies are connected, this becomes visible to both sides:
- The Bilateral Agreement itself and its complete version history
- Any Event or document either side explicitly chooses to share
- The combined Shared Timeline both companies see identically
